Pharmacologic action：
As a cationic surfactant, this product is a quaternary ammonium compound, which has good bacteriostatic effect on bacteria, fungi and yeast. As a medicinal excipient, benzalkonium chloride is commonly used in ophthalmic preparations and is an efficient antibacterial preservative. It is a broad spectrum fungicide, which can change the bacterial cytoplasmic membrane permeability, make the bacterial cytoplasmic substance extravasate, hinder its metabolism and play a killing role. It had strong effect on gram-positive bacteria, but had no effect on pseudomonas aeruginosa, acid-fast bacilli and cell buds. It can rapidly bind to protein, and its effect is significantly reduced in the presence of blood, cotton, cellulose and organic matter. Concentrations below 0.1% are not irritating to skin.

Benzalkonium chloride is mainly used for mucous membrane disinfection at the surgical site, skin mucosal wound disinfection, infected skin disinfection and vaginal irrigation. It should be noted that this product can only be used externally, not for internal administration or enema. In addition, it can not be used in mucosal wound or inflammation for a long time or a large area.
Benzalammonium chloride is dissociated into cationic active groups in aqueous solution, which has the function of cleaning and sterilization. Widely used in sterilization, disinfection, anti-corrosion, such as flowers, descaling, solubilization and other aspects, is also a cationic dye dyeing acrylic fiber levelling agent.
